I just wanted to say thank you for listening to me and helping me work through the tears earlier this week. I had a lot of stuff bottled up and my instinct was to try to cancel the call, but I’m truly glad that I didn’t. Our conversation helped me organize my thoughts and feelings and it definitely helped prevent an emotional explosion of mass proportions. I appreciate you lending an ear. I’m thankful to have you in my life and I just wanted to let you know that! I love ya!

I wanted to make sure that I reached out to people that have had an everlasting positive impact in my academic and professional career, as well as my personal life, to say: Thank You…and you are one of them! 2016 has been an amazing academic year, Dr. K! Had it not been for your support, words of encouragement and light, I am not sure I would have accomplished so much. Within the acknowledgement section of my dissertation, I wrote the following with respect to you…. “Dr. Karen Maxwell, you were light in moments of darkness.” And so you were and still are…Everything that I have learned with you about myself far exceeds everything that I learned (through classes) during my PhD and I am forever grateful for that.
